Laboratories
The Department is equipped with computer laboratories used for teaching basic computer language (I.T.) as well as for courses where computers and/or multimedia equipment need to be used in general. Two of these laboratories, available to teaching staff and graduate students, are used for scientific research assigned by the Department.
The laboratories can be found in the Via D’Azeglio Complex and in the Borgo Carissimi Complex.
Computer laboratory for Philosophy and Classic Studies can be found in the Via D'Azeglio Complex. It is located on the first floor of the “ex scientifici” building (once used for Maths) with entrance through the kiosk or from Santa Croce square.
The laboratory is mostly used for lessons. There are 25 thin client computers available. By providing their Ateneo login credentials, students can access Internet.
This laboratory also has a video projector.

Another computer laboratory, which has eight computers, can be found on the second floor of the Italian Studies Unit. It is used for scientific research activities coordinated by the Department and is limited to teaching staff, researchers and graduate students.
This laboratory offers 60 computers of the latest kind. It is mostly used for the study of basic notions of information technology, as well as an examination centre. It is located in the Via Del Prato Learning Centre, next to the Aula Magna (main lecture room).
This laboratory also has a video projector.

A second computer laboratory, with approximately ten computers, can be found on the attic floor of the Psychological and Social Studies in Borgo Carissimi, 10. It is used by teaching staff and graduate students for research purposes.
For individual language study, students have a Multimedia laboratory with 25 seats at their disposal, offering resources for the practice of foreign languages with or without teacher guidance.
This laboratory is part of the Language Studies Unit in the Viale San Michele Complex.
Students can carry out different activities there in more than one foreign language, including:
- reading newspapers
- listening to radio programmes
- listening to and reading passages taken from literary works
- doing crosswords and linguistic games
- watching films
- doing reading, listening and writing exercises

The Department is also equipped with a Cartographic laboratory to aid in teaching and research and provide materials for all activities connected with the study of map-making.
The laboratory constitutes an important part of the map collection at number 12, Borgo Carissimi, where the offices of the teaching staff and all services connected with geographical disciplines can be found.
